RUTH ELLIOTT Obituary

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a true saint, Ruth Elliott, at age 92 years old. Losing someone like her leaves a void; a specific kind of quiet in the world. On January 22, 2026 an angel on earth was called to heaven.

There is no post, no string of words or phrases, no photos or videos that could be shared that could possibly embody the spirit of “Gram”. If you knew her, you would know this.

Ruth was often referred to among family as a ‘‘tough Norwegian woman” and that she was — but never in a way that felt rough around the edges. In fact, quite the opposite. Her heart was far too big for this world. There will be no greater feeling of true love, support, pride and confidence than that of which Ruth gave just by simply looking you in your eyes. To have felt a love like that, we are eternally blessed.

When she looked at you, the rest of the world softened. The twinkle in her eye as she listened to you made you feel important, safe and deeply loved. She had the rare ability to make time slow down just by paying attention. Any given event in life, major or minor — there was no doubt that ‘meme and pop pop’ would be there. A world without her is daunting, one that we haven’t learned how to exist in. How badly our family wishes to give her one more hug, one more kiss, one more hand-in-hand squeeze… yet one more, two more… It would never be enough to soften the blow.

The light in all of this darkness is knowing she is reunited with the love of her life, the man she had been with since 1951. After she passed, there was a genuine smile on her face. Pop & Gram are finally together again. She could not be more at peace or in a better place than there with him. To be loved by her is God’s greatest gift. We will spend the rest of our days trying to love others the way that she loved all of us.

“I loved you then, I love you now. I love you still and I always will.”

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jack. She is survived by her children, Donna; Jack Jr. and Dora; Tracy and Jerry; and Jamie and Scott. She is also survived by her grandchildren, David, Jason, Jennie, Tyler, Cara, Devin, Ryan, Alex, Carley, Amber, and Bowen; and her great-grandchildren, Lily, William, Christian, River, Elijah, Charlie, Oliver, and Isla.

The viewing and visitation for Ruth will be held at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 303 Bridgeboro St., Riverside, NJ 08075 on February 9, 2026, Monday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM followed by Ruth's Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.  The interment will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, North Hanover Twp., NJ.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
